* Insert CD in drive and double-click on the "BEGIN" icon in the open CD window. A main menu will appear. All software installation and launching is done through this main menu.
INSTALL BROWSER
The browser is a separate program that allows you to browse a catalog of images at your own pace, view them full screen, and search image captions by feature or place name.
* Double-click on the "BEGIN" icon to launch the main menu. Click on the "Install Browser" button and follow on-screen instructions.
BROWSER USE
* After installation, return to the main menu by double clicking on the "BEGIN" icon in the open CD window. Click on the "Image Browser" button to launch the browser.
* Once you quit the browser, you must double-click the "BEGIN" icon in the open CD window to get back to the main menu.
View Images Full Screen
* In the Image Browser, double-click on any image thumbnail to view image full screen.
Play QuickTime Movies
* In the Image Browser, double-click on any video thumbnail, then click on the triangular play button in lower left corner of the window to play clip.
Find/Search Captions in the Browser
* In the browser, captions are stored in the "notes" field for each image. Captions can be viewed by selecting the large view icon on the menu bar, or by clicking on the "INFO" button in the menu bar. Use these captions to search for individual images or groups of images.
* To search captions, click on the "Find" button in the menu bar. In the "Find" dialog box, change the pull-down menu from "Name" to "Notes", type in the word(s) you are searching for (i.e. "Valley Forge", or "Washington") and click on the "Find" button.
* To find all images again, change pull-down menu to "Everything" and click on the "Find" button.
INSTALL SCREEN SAVER
* From the main menu, click on "Install Screen Saver" button. Restart computer when completed. Alternately you may simply drag the "REVOLUTIONARY WAR Screen Saver" icon from the CD into your "Control Panels" folder and restart.
INSTALL QUICKTIME
Apple's QuickTime software is required for playback of narrated video segments in the browser.
Your Macintosh computer should already have QuickTime installed. If so, there is no need to install QuickTime from this CD. However, if the video clips do not play, you may need to install QuickTime.
* If you do not already have QuickTime installed, click on the "Install QuickTime" button from the main menu and follow on-screen instructions.
INTERNET CONNECTION
* On the main menu, click on the "Internet Resources" button to connect to additional information on the internet.
* The "Imspace" website (imspace.com) may be reached by clicking on the internet address in the "Internet Resources" menu. It is full of great user tips, free upgrades and trouble-shooting tips for the browser (Kudo Catalog Reader).
Note: Internet connection requires that you have an internet service provider and internet browser on your computer.
IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS
* Images are in TIF format for your convenience. They may be used in any program that can read TIF images.
* Images are located in the "01" folder inside the "REVWAR" folder inside the "CONTENT" folder.
